SMART Development
At times it can be very difficult to continually improve oneself, whether it involves personal or professional goals. Sometimes I find myself in a rut and unaware of how I should further develop myself. It is extremely easy to dream about what I should be doing and never actually taking the appropriate action to turn them into reality. Recently, I came across a method that helps you hone your goals: SMART. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time bound. I applied this process to one of my many dreams and afterwards I was satisfied with the progress that I made. Be SMART about your life and the way you approach it.

For me, "measurable" is usually the hardest part of developing SMART goals. It is easy to see a general path to a goal, but breaking it down into specific increments can be difficult.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using the SMART method. I have no problems with the SMAR, its the Time that i have problems with. So much is already going on professionaly for me that i have little "extra" time for school or on improving the classes that i teach.
ReplyDeleteI find that the hardest and most important step in reaching a goal or making a change is taking the first step. It can sometimes be overwhelming to think of a large goal and all the steps and time it will take to acheive it. Jumping in and doing something small helps me to get started and heaidng in the right direction. I sometimes have to say to myself "get up off the couch and put on your gym clothes...it's just one workout" or "turn on your computer and comment on one blog!" : ) Once I get started it's easy to continue.
